I believe that everyone is essentially an artist! Find out why we have had students commuting from as far away as Stanley Mission (a 4 hour drive), from Saskatoon and Nipawin. No prior experience necessary and whether you'd like to take art classes for a self-fulfillment hobby or your goal is to become an artist, we can help you!
Classes offered are Adult and School Age (ages 7 and up). Year long classes are offered as well as weekend workshops (which are a prerequisite for starting weekly classes - and also for learning new mediums), with an art show and field trip at the end of each year. Mediums taught are graphite, charcoal, coloured pencil, wax pastel, oil pastel, india ink & water-colour cakes, acrylic and watercolour. No oil painting is taught in the studio because of the ventilation requirements. Classes fill quickly, so register early in June to be sure of a spot for next years classes!
We teach to each students unique artistic style and growth. Classes are developmental, yet individually modified to each students needs. Students with no prior instruction have:
Art classes are taught by myself, Christina Thoen (Certified teacher with an Art major). In the School Age classes, we often have a Senior Assistant and a Junior Assistant, as well as myself teaching, so there is opportunity for employment for students who are dedicated and interested. Many students have a strong belief in lifelong learning and continue taking their art classes. The longest standing student is well over 10 years. Professionals who are proficient in their field believe in continuing to improve their skills, and our students are no different!
Students requiring financial assistance for children can apply through creativekidssask.ca online.
Policy for year-long art students: The commitment is a yearlong of art classes - no cancellations or refunds after December 1st.
